Rick Ankiel has 29 RBIs in 23 games since being called up. If he gets a full season in at that pace, we're talking about 223 RBIs. That shatters Hack Wilson's record.

Of course, 23 games is NOT a full season (remember Ozzie Virgil in May of 1987?), and the HGH shipments Ankiel received (before HGH was officially banned) will probably dog his rep for a bit, but I'm definitely curious to watch him next season.

I'm not a big baseball fan although I played as a kid, but the kicker is that he looks like he's a very good outfielder too. I've not really seen anyone with his class of arm outside of maybe old recordings of Roberto Clemente.

We got some free Cards tickets a couple a weeks back and although they lost to the Marlins he held up a run on a long fly ball and later, he made a great track of a ball that took a jagged carom off the right field wall which he followed with a perfect laser throw to second for the out.

And if the Cards somehow win the Central, he was definitely the spark that got them back on track.
