Sep. 20th, 2007 04:16 pm1. The gods have heard my prayers: Anna Faris to play Linda Lovelace.
2. ID/Creationist Bingo!
3. A former co-worker is one-half of the latest round (16!) of Henry Jenkins's ongoing Gender and Fan Culture series. Good stuff.
4. Airport screeners track what you read. Lovely.
5. As for the ongoing, "what to do with #756 debate," I voted A. Yes, really. I despise Bonds, and I don't doubt he used performance enhancers. But this is baseball history; I don't want to see Ty Cobb's cleats covered in graffiti because someone's pissed at the fact that he was a racist (definitely), murderer (rumored), or bettor on baseball (confirmed) . Likewise, the ball should be in the hall as is, not defaced.
6. The Vulture, as horrified as we all are by the notion of Tarantino making a "sex movie," suggests ten directors who might do a worse job. Alas, they're wrong about most of them, any of which I'd see before Quentin tries porn. But #1 cracks me up.
7. In search engines usage stats, dog bites man.
8. Facebook fails to learn a thing from Livejournal's attempt to ban breastfeeding pictures.
9. New Hello Kitty Vibrators (NSFW, of course). Or, as
feste_sylvain notes, Hello Kitty Wac-a-mole.
10. Finally, this is an interesting forum at Freakanomics on the future of the music industry.

Date: 2007-09-20 09:16 pm (UTC)Me, too, mainly because it's true.
Although that movie did do one good thing: it gave Hugh Jackman his career. Because filming was delayed on Eyes Wide Shut due to Kubrick being a perfectionist, filming was subsequently delayed on Mission Impossible 2, Cruise's next film. Because of that delay, Dougray Scott was no longer available to play Wolverine in X-Men, so the role instead went to Jackman.
So somewhere there's a parallel universe where Dougray Scott starred in The Boy from Oz on Broadway and failed to start a franchise with Van Helsing....
Cha cha cha.

After Michael Winterbottom's 'Nine Songs,' I don't want to see anyone make a "sex film."

Date: 2007-09-20 09:46 pm (UTC)It's like, didn't Viggo replace Stuart Townsend (?) early in the shooting of Lord of the Rings? In that alternate universe, is Viggo in Queen of the Damned and Townsend in all the new David Cronenberg movies?
