So, what is HBO giving us instead of those Deadwood movies or a third season of Rome?

A new biker show from the screenwriter who had a one-hit wonder with The Player*, but whose other classics include Gleaming the Cube, Deep Impact, and Changing Lanes.

And a "near-future" medical series from the guy whose sole claim to fame is writing the high-concept Tommy Lee Jones/Cedric the Entertainer classic, Man of the House.

As far as stuff worth watching, that pretty much leaves the inconsistent Real Time with Bill Maher, and Big Love, which doesn't come back until June.

Meanwhile, some other cable network has Dexter, Californication, Weeds, Meadowlands, The Tudors, and Penn and Teller: Bullshit!

*Assuming, of course, that we don't just give the credit to Robert Altman.

My thoughts exactly. I'm coming close to switching to Showtime myself.

Hey hey... Gleaming the Cube is a modern masterpiece! I mean sure... it's no Prayer of the Roller boys, but what is?

Yeah. We got HBO because they signed to do a series based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels, by Charlaine Harris. (It isn't finished yet.) But the movie selection sucks, the only series we watch are Big Love and Rome (and that one is over), and they pan-and-scan instead of letterboxing. WTF?

I watched Gleaming the Cube the other night. What's wrong with that? What?

Michael Tolkin also did 'The Rapture,' which is a pretty interesting film. I can't say I have much interest in a biker show, though. It sounds like 'David Milch does a surfer show!' Uh... so?

HBO has ordered a new season of 'Flight of the Conchords,' tho.

The Network has jumped the shark.... makes me kind of glad we don't get it any more.

If I hear one more word from anybody about how HBO is 'more than just TV' I will have to give them an enema made of calamansi juice.

Seriously, that was true in the past, but the only people who can parrot the "It's not TV, it's HBO" line with a straight face right now are delusional retards.
