I have nothing to add, except that I only just recently watched Carpenter's Escape From New York and... um, I loved it kind of. Okay. This probably makes me a bad person.

I didn't even know there was a remake in progress, but now I wish I hadn't found out. Ratner. Aaauuuuuggh.
