ION -- the nigh-unwatched broadcast network formerly known as PAX, will be airing the US debut of Hogfather! It'll also air The Colour of Magic! Woohoo!
Hogfather (along with State of Play) was the reason we went out and bought a player that could be configured so as to handle non-R1 discs in an "enhanced" (cough cough) manner. (The Philips 3140, btw. Auto-converts PAL, and has a magic remote code to change it to region-free.)
It's not cable here -- it's network. It's just one of those channels that no one watches. Although a glance at their webpage says that they're only in the Cleveland area, not Cincy.
It was fun (although very much BBC level spfx -- the Doctor hasn't fully changed expectations yet). I'm glad they're bringing it to the US finally, but on Pax?! Even if it's called ION, aren't they all about the Xtian values? Ironic. Maybe they finally realized the need for magic!
The reason ION is barely watched is because they're Paid Programming during most of the day. People aren't going to become invested in a channel that offers nothing till primetime and usually crap at that!
I hope they're smart enough to air it on a Saturday when they basically have no real competition other than people's TiVos.
Whoa... PAX is gone? When it launched it was supposed to be the channel that the Christian hordes of America were clamoring for, but were denied by the ungodly major networks of the Evil Media. Or is it still the godly home of Highway to Heaven reruns and Billy Ray Cyrus (which, of course, I never watch) under a different name?
