Dick Wilson, best known for telling lots of people (including Mythbuster's Adam Savage) to not squeeze the Charmin, has passed away.

You know, the weird thing is that they sell Charmin over here without any of his ads (none of the 'don't squeeze the Charmin' campaign is used here), but I keep thinking of him whenever I see Charmin in the stores.

I don't think they use the Don't Squeeze the Charmin campaign here anymore, either, actually. But like the "Time to Make the Donuts" campaign, it's pretty indelibly associated with the product.

I do remember it, although we don't have that brand here. We barely have doughnuts here. :)

That and the lonely Maytag repairman...

(Krispy Kreme is in London, but I haven't tried them. I don't think I've had a doughnut since I moved. :)

true..the original campaign ended in 1985 but they brought him back briefly in the late 90s...he lobbied to have his son take over the role(no pun intended) but had no luck...

He also played numerous drunks on Bewitched

To think -- if it hadn't been for Charmin, we'd be mourning "that guy who played all the drunks on Bewitched" instead. :-)
