I've heard many stories of terminal or wheelchair bound folk living full(er) lives in virtual environments... I think to an extent, we all game to see what life would be like under different circumstances - but not all of us appreciate how much of a release that must be for those locked in a deteriorating one.
I think my dad would have loved something like Animal Crossing; like the Mom in the animation, he had MS and was wheelchair-bound for many years. Unfortunately he was a quad, so even this would have been impossible for him. He passed away in 2002- I can't imagine if I'd come across letters and presents like this person did. :(
Now if they could only make videogame controllers you can control with your head/chin/voice...
An insanely addicting game where you have a little house in a village of talking animals... you collect bugs, go fishing, dig up fossils, collect furniture, have contests and games... It's like living in a soap opera, sometimes, because the animals have different personalities and they fight/fall in love/stalk each other.
The version in the animation is for GameCube; there's a DS Lite version called Animal Crossing: Wild World that's even better. Looks like they're coming out with a version for Wii soon, too.

Thanks for sharing that.
