Over on Making Light, Andrew Plotkin (creator, incidentally, of many damned fine IF games), sums up everything you need to know about Boston's mappability (or lack thereof).

It's funny because it's true. And because I'm currently not sitting in Boston traffic.

That explains so much! I've been to Boston once, and while I was a passenger at the time, I remember feeling this existential dread every time we got in the car...

Of course they missed the obvious. Logan airport, until the addition of the new runway, when seen from above, was designed to form a masonic symbol of power. (Having been designed by a mason, it's really not hard to realize this).

Many hidden elder signs and mystical symbols are built into the road system of the city. That's why no navigational system can truly handle it... the mystic energies beneath the ground that have been collecting for several hundred years always disrupt them...

I wish there was that much cool magic in the Boston streets. It's more like Crowley's twisting the M25 into an ancient evil sigil.
