Hunh. That was one of the more unexpected "last season on. . ." recaps I've seen. Using fan recaps to tell the story worked well, although I'd have liked it better if they'd incorporated it into one of Allison's dreams.

Also, that was a damned fine episode. Adding Angelica Huston to the show is a smart move, and the continuing development of Ariel is great (as was the well-intended but nasty way Hannah helped her friend). Scanlon had one of his best episodes in ages, as well.

This show slips under the radar all too often, but it's never failed to keep me entertained.

Oh, that's an old Glen Gordon Caron trick. He did that quite often on Moonlighting, especially when the show was off the air for a number of weeks. I actually was thinking how Medium was not as quirky as Moonlighting or Now & Again and then they start with that and the use of showtunes, two Caron staples.

I hated the "real people" inserts (and I assume that most, if not all, of them were actually actors ... but then, I'm cynical by nature) but I did love the episode.

Except for the *huge* error of using "I am 16" as one of Maria's songs. That was sung by Liesl, so the girls auditioning for the lead wouldn't have been rehearsing or singing it. And how did anyone connected with the show not catch that?

Yeah, that bugged me too (the wrong song), but then it is one of the better songs in the musical that a girl/woman would sing so I figured it a decent audition piece (and odds are whoever didn't get Maria might get the Liesl part, auditioning for both seemed reasonable to me).

But yeah, weird. Could've just said they were auditioning for Liesl if that's the song they wanted to use.

I always forget about this show, and I really liked it when it was on Mondays.

We are so very happy to have it back on. We watch it religiously. I agree, this was one of the best episodes yet.

I'm so glad you posted about this - through various issues my season pass on my TiVo wasn't set up correctly (I had to reset it this summer when the show was only on Lifetime as reruns) so I totally missed the new ep. Currently watching it on NBC.com (am I being disloyal to the WGA this way??)

It's good, but why, after 3 seasons of Allison successfully helping to solve cases, would Scanlon suddenly be brushing her off? I understand he would want to avoid publicly associating with her, but wouldn't he still want to use the information?

I was pleasantly surprised to see [livejournal.com profile] chaodai still in the credits as an executive producer this season. He's been so busy with Middleman, I didn't know if he'd worked on Medium at all. Hopefully we'll see a few eps scripted by him too.
