Normally, the most emotion I can muster towards pro golfers is a combination of mild boredom and irritation at the idea of someone getting paid for a good walk spoiled.

When it comes to the creature known as Tripp Isenhour, however, it's a combination of full-blown anger and disgust. And the "apology" is horseshit; you don't shoot that many balls at a bird and get to say that there was no malice or intent to hit the bird.

I can only hope that some neighbor gets upset with "Tripp" for being too noisy, and decides to teach him the same lesson. One whack with a nine iron in Tripp's own personal golf balls should do the trick.

I'm a visual person, so I think it took the picture another of my friends posted to grab my attention. I'm going to try making them this weekend. Want me to let you know how they turn out?

I wish. I get the impression that the world of golf is a staid and stuffy one. (Which is kinda weird since the Scottish practically invented it.)

I have an ongoing vendetta with the sport for a multitude of other reasons though: People keep berming over perfectly good natural habitats with golf courses, which take up a lot of water, time, money, resources, etc to maintain, keeping the whole thing rather expensive to get into. The pros are effin' sexist (I gave the Augusta Masters course the bird every time I drove by it on Christmas holidays) and Tiger Woods aside, often racially bigoted as well. (Witness the recent debacle with the Golf Channel anchor saying Tiger Woods should be lynched.) Plus, their clothes are a crime against aesthetics.

Actually, the pros dress fairly well. It's the amateur golfers who don't understand not to mix plaids.

Not that it's a nice thing to do to any bird, but a lot of locals are outraged because it was a red-tailed hawk. Folks around here, even folks who aren't really nature people, love red-tailed hawks. People get excited seeing them. ("Oh my gosh, look, a hawk!!") They're elegant and majestic in a way most other native birds aren't. And they eat rodents, which everyone who owns citrus trees--frequent rat attractors--can appreciate.
