Durian candy

A co-worker brought in a piece of durian candy.

I can safely say that it smells just like I imagined it would..

And that, one hour after eating a tiny bite of it, and drinking two cups of coffee, I can still taste it.

Yeah, that's not an experiment I'm inclined to repeat. It's up there with natto.

Ugh. My grocery store carries durian in season in its own refrigerated case in the back of the produce area. I was unfortunate enough to walk by once when someone opened the case to purchase one, and I've never wanted to have anything to do with those fruits since.

And so with you on the natto, too. I tried, but it just wasn't for me. (I tried it at home and had to dispose of the trash immediately following sample taste. Egads.)

Have you seen Steve, Don't Eat It!? Natto's one of his, er, "featured" items. (As is a 14-year-old box of breakfast cereal.)

I'm surprised the store doesn't have a separate room for the durian; I bet they lose lots of sales each time someone smells it.

i love durian.

natto, however, i've not yet been able to develop a taste for.
although, to be fair, it's more the texture than the flavour that turns me off of it.
