Casting news: The good, the bad, and the ugly

The good: Timothy Olyphant and William Hurt joining Damages. Two fine actors on a damned fine show.

The bad: Chris Noth leaving Law and Order: CI. Nothing wrong with Jeff Goldblum, of course, but Noth has really grown on me.

The ugly: Nicole Richie on Chuck. Sigh. If Paris Hilton couldn't destroy Veronica Mars, I'm sure Chuck will survive this.

Damn, didn't Noth just recently get back in Dick Wolf's good graces?

I liked that little cop show that Goldblum had last summer (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0802148/). He was suuuuuper odd. If he's going to be a "Crazy Cop a la Vincent D'onofrio V 2.0", no thank you.

I posted my thoughts in my LJ, but -- much as I've always liked Goldblum, and he couldn't possibly be more boring than Noth -- I really wish they'd put a female detective in charge for a change. *sigh*

I think Kathryn Erbe's character is supposed to be senior to D'Onofrio. I imagine the redhead with all the freckles is staying, so it will still be boy-girl.

*nod* See, that's my concern. I could see Goldblum as a Vince-style oddball, or as a quirky captain if Eric B leaves, but I don't see him working as a tough cop, which is the balance Noth provides.

I'm tired of the "crazy Goren" thing though. It's like OKAY, WE GOT IT. I didn't even watch the season premiere just because the ads made it look like "ooh Goren crazy, look how crazy, how crazy is he anyway?" for an hour. Feh.

PS, man needs some Atkins or something. He's way too heavy. He looks unhealthy. Which adds to the whole "Goren craaaazy" thing. I used to have the hots for him majorly, but he's just looking old and busted anymore.
