*sigh*

It's like watching The Tick, but without a sense of irony. You could almost imagine the Spirit here saying, "The City. My The City."

If I didn't know better, I'd say that Miller might never have actually read The Spirit.

That said, maybe he read it, hated it, and decided that since he couldn't legally exhume Eisner and sodomize his body, he'd try the next best thing by securing the film rights.

I thought that, in general, trailers were supposed to make the audience want to see a movie. Was I mistaken in that notion?

I showed that trailer to a group of comics artist friends and they just about hurt themselves laughing. Because, well, it was either that or start throwing things at the TV.

Eisner & Miller were actually friends. They even worked together. It just adds to the bafflement of this trailer, and the possibility that Miller has just gone crazy as he's aged...

Is the movie's director responsible for the trailers, or are they made by some hack at the studio?

in this case, it's frank miller having pretty tight controls over it.

you know, it *is* pretty impressive that he manages to both be the biggest dickhead in comics and one of the biggest dickheads in hollywood.

Somewhere on the net is the Ben Edlund opening, that is some 5 or 6 years old that is a Miller parody, which is almost exactly what Miller just wrote for this trailer.

I saw the trailer last week and sighed. "Dammit, Miller," I muttered, "you took a great concept and made it whoreswhoreswhores."

Now I want to see the Frank Miller version of 'The Cat In The Hat'...

The sun never shone
It was too wet (with blood) to play
So we sat in the house
All that cold, cold wet day.

I sat there with Sally
We sat there we two
And I said, "How I wish
there was someone to punch or to screw!"

Too wet to go out
And too cold to shoot whores
So we sat in the house
And kept watch on the door
And all we could do was to Sit! Sit! Sit!
And we didn't like it, not one friggin' bit.

Then something went BUMP!
How that bump made us jump!
Then we saw him step in on the mat!
We looked and we saw him--
That Yellow Bastard In the Hat!
And he said to us, "Why
Are your guns pointed like that!"

...

Now Sally and I
Did not know what to say
Our mother was out turning tricks for the day...

This is his fanboy love letter to Eisner.

That's what makes it worse.
