Yes, folks, your border crossings are being tracked by our friendly neighborhood Spider-man government. Of course, they're only doing it to capture the terrorists, so you've got nothing to fear.

Oh, and you'll have nothing to fear for fifteen years, because that's how long they'll keep the info.

Might I suggest that everyone who crosses the border carry a copy of this book? After all, I don't doubt that your reading material while crossing is one of the pieces of info that the DHS is likely to record.

Heh, '1984' and 'Jennifer Government' too.

You're not surprised by this, are you? It's another small erosion of privacy/freedom. Nibble by nibble, we're edging towards a country where everyone has an implanted ID chip ala Shadowrun.

Actually I'd suspect a bar code tatoo on the forehead.

No, if it's invisible they won't be able to see who's got the mark and who doesn't. Whatever marking system the government comes up with will involve bold markers so they can instantly tell who "belongs."

The forehead curves and the skin's thin there. That's a hard area to work on... Inner wrist would be better, that way you could put a scanner that checks ID into a cufflink.

Hm, maybe Nape of the neck?

Implanted transponders sit under the skin, that'd need to be someplace where it wouldn't get whacked. Behind the ear?

I've been meaning to write an entry on Little Brother.
He publishes it for free download here.

http://craphound.com/littlebrother/download/

in text, html and pdf and various e book formats.

Read the first few chapters so far and it's very good.
The intro and afterword are fascinating...

Wouldn't The Anarchist's Cookbook be a better choice to see if they're paying attention? ;)

Why is this a surprise to people?

I always figured they were doing it.

Why wouldn't they?

It's relatively easy and useful for them.

(Not agreeing, just saying)

More importantly, remember that the government can look at anything they want on your computer whenever you take it across the border.

Where's my coffee?
