Heroes and other Amazon deals

Amazon's Deal of the Day is Heroes, Season 1 for $29.99 (50% off). We've been rewatching this season, as we've been getting Elayna hooked on it, and it's still damned fine. Elayna has, incidentally, done a wonderful job of catching on to a bunch of the twists.

Amazon's Deal of the Week, btw, is Band of Brothers for $44.99 (44% off). No, we neither own this, nor have had any request from our daughter to watch it. But it's still a damned fine miniseries.

There's also a Buy One, Get One Free sale on a bunch of TV DVD sets, including Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, My Name is Earl, Stargate SG-1, The Girls Next Door, King of the Hill, and Remington Steele. A surprising number of these sets are already at 30-40% off before the freebie.

ETA: Note that taraljc reports some craptastic glitches and customer service when trying to get Amazon to honor the BOGO sale above.

Finally, there's a Grab Bag Sale, with 60-80% off a bunch of items, including the original Twilight Zone, the 1990 Narnia series, assorted comedy specials (Ron White, Wanda Sykes, Pee-Wee Herman, Richard Lewis), the original Assault on Precinct 13, and assorted crappy movies like The Last Run, Final Contract, Death Train, and the classic Shakespeare tale A Midsummer's Night Rave. Most of the movies and comedy specials weigh in at $5.49 a pop.

FYI the Big TV BOGO sale is wonky. I just tried to order 2 box sets from the sale only to get charged for both and had to sit on hold for 30 minutes to get them to refund me the 2nd cheaper boxset. And the help desk guy argued the whole time. I kept trying to send him the url of the sale, or read it to him and he couldn't type it in correctly.

Ick! That sucks -- it's bad enough to have a glitch, but to not have anyone who could even figure out that they'd fucked up just ain't right. I've edited the post to caution folks.

I had the same problem as taraljc with the sale-- it charges full price for both. Amazon refused to honor the sale at all for me. Perhaps I wasn't insistent enough, but I just wasn't willing to argue any longer for two seasons of Dead Like Me.
