According to the list I found at Wikipedia, I've never seen a mumblecore film.

And pre-Googling the term, I'd have guessed "mumblecore" was not a genre of film, but a subset of emo rock.

I also apparently have never seen a mumblecore film. And I see a lot of films.

The description of the subgenre provides a clue as to why I haven't seen any.

It depends, even though he is not listed, Richard Linklatter's Slackers seems like it would fall under this category and it is a fantastic film.

why do these assholes get the funding and the acclaim, while others are left in the cold? i'm not saying that andrew bujalski isn't a nice guy -- he helped me locate a steenbeck rental a while back -- but come on.

Mind you, I've only seen one, but I'm pretty sure that it was one more than I ever wanted or needed to see, and I gave up about half way through it.

I didn't know what mumblecore was, but I would have been with [livejournal.com profile] terracinque on the definition, if asked.

However, I have actually seen one of the films mentioned on the Wiki page..."The Puffy Chair." It was very silly and slackerish and yeah, kind of annoying. I figured those crazy kids might eventually grow up and make a real film. So, I'd change my vote to annoying, probably.

I had no idea what mumblecore was, but I looked it up on Wikipedia and apparently I have seen a mumblecore film. It was eh.

I generally dislike movies about "the personal relationships of twentysomethings." I find that they feel self-indulgent, like the filmmaker's showing off how quirky he and his stupid hipster friends are.

I haven't seen any movies listed in the Wikipedia entry. In fact I've only ever heard of Baghead, and that looked rather annoying.

Having wiki-ed it, I have never seen any of them either.
