Yes, there will be a completely inconsequential remake of The Host.
Me, I'll stick with the original, which is already a pretty American film in terms of humor, excess, and violence, and really doesn't need to be made again.

We'd slaughter a remake of Seven Samurai, but A Bug's Life certainly was the same plot without assuming the remake mantle. Similar thing with Casablanca and Barb Wire; even though the latter film was *ahem* not very good, it certainly didn't stumble under the weight of it's predecessor.
I mean, the Zack Snyder Dawn of the Dead remake would have been okay if it hadn't been named Dawn of the Dead. It was an awesome film when it launched into completely new territory, like that great 20-minute opening sequence, or the whole subplot with the guy in the gun shop. But the rest? Feh.
