Since I know my lack of posts today has caused much gnashing of teeth, and even a major stock market fluctuation, I figured I'd try to sneak one update in.

Today was hella busy. But I managed to get much work done, and also wrote my way-late Chud column. Back-to-school is heating up, alas, so I'm not finding as many opportunities to really just rest and relax.

Anyway, if I owe you a comment, I apologize -- we've got a movie screening tonight, but I'll really try to catch up on things more tomorrow. And email me if you think I missed something important -- my friends page has already gotten well over a hundred posts, which can be a lot to deal with. :-)

Of course, you all probably bought a copy of this years ago, just like I did, thinking it would never see print elsewhere. But if you didn't, here it is.

Just got back from seeing a sneak preview of Goldmember with [livejournal.com profile] shadesong. There are a zillion or so surprises, and they asked us not to spoil them (even if they hadn't, I wouldn't). But let me say that it's a damned funny movie. Not a good movie, necessarily, but damned funny. Painfully so, in at least one scene. Definitely better than the second movie (if only because Fat Bastard got less screen time), may approach the first (which wasn't exactly the world's greatest film, to be frank).

The fart jokes, as always, were a waste of time. The urine jokes, however, worked wonderfully.

And we got the first trailer for Die Another Day, although I would've liked a longer one. Ah, well.

Note: I've changed the names of three items, as people who haven't read time should have to have the movie spoiled yet.

Having just gotten back from a screening of Goldmember, at which studio reps asked us not to spoil any of the cameos (and rightly so, as they are much funnier if you don't know they're coming), imagine how appalled I was to get the latest issue of time, with a full list of spoilers right near the front. Now, imagine how much less fun the audience will have, knowing what's coming.

Between this and your spoiler-laden review of ZZZZZZZ earlier this summer, it's hard not to wonder if you're trying to undercut the impact of XXXX/YYYYY movies, or, perhaps more significantly, films that aren't released by Time-Warner.

Disappointed,

Adam Lipkin
