So, work was hectic yesterday afternoon, as y'all no doubt guessed. Worked our butts off until seven. I then caught a ride home with ex-roommie Michael, managed to see [livejournal.com profile] deza as she was leaving (and the tease showed me the skimpy outfit she'd been modeling for the folks inside, but wouldn't model it again, dammit!), and entered the house to find Movie Night 3.5 going on, with [livejournal.com profile] mfree, [livejournal.com profile] aggression (though it would have been nice if someone had actually introduced me!), [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe, [livejournal.com profile] mousegrrl, [livejournal.com profile] rloveking, and [livejournal.com profile] voltbang all there, as well as Elayna, and [livejournal.com profile] voltbang and [Bad username or site: Rloveking's @ livejournal.com] gorgeous and precocious daughter Maddie (not to mention [livejournal.com profile] shadesong herself, of course). Yes, I caught a ride home with Michael, and walked into a house with three other Michaels/Mikes!

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe and I went to get some food from Chili's, with Voltbang and Maddie leaving while we were out, and Aggression leaving shortly after we got back. After munching food and putting Elayna to bed, we settled down to watch Empire Records, after which we called it a night (and, in retrospect, should have done so sooner, as I was so tired I was in pain).

Woke up this morning, repeated yesterday's morning events -- walked to Emory (Elayna was actually still asleep this time!), didn't sweat quite as much. Am now sitting at my computer for a few minutes, writing up some calls and writing an LJ (duh!), instead of catching up on LJ comments like I need to. Some of you are going to get some comments either today or tomorrow about old threads, because I'm that behind.

Anyway, I need to head to the big free breakfast, where I'll stuff myself again, then off to more work. Assuming the NIS+ server stays on, I'll be less free than I was yesterday.

Oh, and one last thing: the inimitable [livejournal.com profile] kiwitayro is here! Welcome her, even if she has her LJ set up to use that lame ass screening option for all comments. ;-)

Must go hunt down the wild caffeine urn now.

Quote of the morning so far:

"I like mystery balls." -- Barb

Not much else happening. I've already had two calls, and the server has stayed up. Today will continue to be more busy.

One mild gripe: We let the cute law student go early yesterday because she had to study. When she showed up today, her previously straight hair was curled, and she'd had her nails done. It's not that she couldn't possible have done both of these and still studied last night, and it's not like we were swamped without her, but it's the principle of the thing.

In other news, the Mets losing streak is finally over. We can now begin the long grueling fight to reclaim fourth place.

And since this post took thirty minutes to write, with constant interruptions, I think this may be my last post for a while.

Finally grabbed lunch. Today has been fucking swamped.

I pulled my lunch out of the freezer and put it on my desk to take over to the dorm, and completely forgot it. I resigned myself to having nothing but snack food during the day.

But it turned out that Michael had forgotten his lunch, too. So he called Kathy, his wife, and she agreed to bring in a sandwich for him, and offered me one as well. Damned nice, especially since Kathy and Michael live slightly outside of BFE.

When Kathy walked in (amidst the absolutely chaos going on)she had a big bag. Turns out she made two sandwiches for each of us, because she thought we'd be really hungry. Each one had turkey and ham and two types of cheese and Grey Poupon. And then she pulled out the homemade cookies and the chips. I should have gotten them a better wedding present. :-)

Students are getting out of their meeting in one minute. Hell begins again.

I'm such a dork.

I got sick of writing long descriptions for each account reset. So I decided to get palindromic:

Problem description: Password reset
Problem Resolution: Reset password

Yeah, I'm lame.

But this has been a long day.

Home now. Am in immense amounts of pain. Between the two early-morning walks, the lack of exercise for weeks before them, and the constant stand, sitting, and kneeling, my legs are literally about to fall off.

Umm, otherwise the day was fine. Long, but fine. And it's over with. Leading right into tomorrow, which will be a motherfucker of a day.

I did manage to read two whole chapters in the second Janet Evanovich book during the two short breaks I had, though. :-)

Oh, and does anyone know if squirrels are supposed to be able to scale straight vertical surfaces? I know they're great climbers, but I watched a squirrel climb a wall today, and even pause multiple times while doing so and just stand there. Before I got close to it, I thought it was a the biggest lizard I'd ever seen. But now, I think it may have been bitten by a radioactive spider.

We have weird squirrels at Emory, anyway.
