(no subject)

So, Mom called last night. Turns out things are worse for Gabu (essentially my grandma in all but name, for those not keeping score at home). They brought hospice in a few weeks ago, but some fucking idiot doctor took her off pain medication. The whole fucking point of hospice is to make a person's final months less painful, and this moron took her off pain pills. And worse, after she lost eight pounds in two weeks (she's down to 78 lbs now), they realized it was a reaction to her anti-depressants, and decided to switch her. Fair enough. But some bureaucrat fucked up, and although they filled the order to take her off the anti-depressant, they never got around to putting her on the new one. So add a nice chunk of depression to the pain and the blindness and all the other shit.

And to top everything off, the scumbucket staff has apparantly been stealing her stuff. And no, this isn't based on her making accusations (which is no doubt what they were relying on), but on mom noticing that things like her watch and anything else with any value have gone missing. Of course, the folks who run the home are now requiring staff to do an inventory of her room, but that's pretty much closing the barn door after the horses have left. And this is supposed to be the best fucking nursing home in Phoenix. And what scary is, it probably is.

And on top of all this, is the knowledge that I'll likely be going to her funeral within a year. Yeah, I know. I'm thirty, and that's when we start to have to deal with more funerals (and having had all biological grandparents, as well as my dad and stepdad, dead before I was thirteen, combined with a very small family, meant that I didn't have to confront death for a very long period). But I still don't like thinking about it.

Anyway, I'm off to go do more documentation. But that's why I'm in a Mood today, and why I won't be posting much.
