So, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong just went out for a walk, and took with her the new Tom Waits CD that [livejournal.com profile] murnkay got her. She'd never heard Waits, in spite of hearing all sorts of good things about him from me and [livejournal.com profile] murnkay and others. Five m inutes later, she returned, saying, "never mind, this sucks."

Sigh.

Some people don't appreciate genius.

I suggested she listen to some Leonard Cohen instead, and she got a horrified expression on her face and said, "Dear god, no!"

Feh.

I'll listen t o the good stuff, and she can live in ignorance of the geniuses.µ∫

My computer remains hosed. I eliminated memory as a possibility, which means it's either the processor or the logic board. Both would suck.

But that also means no checking of email, and little checking of LJ this weekend (only when I have a moment or two at [livejournal.com profile] shadesong's computer). Followed by a week of being down in Florida, where I'll probably not check either one at all. So if you're expecting email from me, expect it around a week from Monday. And if you post something critical in your LJ, I'm not ignoring you -- I'm just unaware of it.

We're dealing with trip prep today and tomorrow (and yes, we've got house and pet-sitters lined up, thankfully!), including cleaning, laundry, etc.

Oh, and our Westfield order arrived the other day. The latest issue of Nodwick is the funniest one yet. And if you're not reading Amelia Rules, you're missing my absolute favorite comic. Buy it! Now!

Anyway, back to cleaning.

Aside from the aforementioned Tom Waits CD, other nifty items have arrived at my house in the last 24 hours, most notably a copy of Richard Matheson's new collection, Off Beat, signed and numbered (15/750), from Subterranean Press. Since I ordered it over a year ago, and Sub Press requires pre-payment, getting the books is always a nifty surprise. And a new Methson bok is always a good thing (this is a collection of stories that have never been reprinted, including a bunch that have never been printed anywhere; the letterbound edition, which I couldn't spring for as it was $200, has an additional story).

And when they came by last night, [livejournal.com profile] bheansidhe and [livejournal.com profile] vidicon arrived with CD-Rs from [livejournal.com profile] 10dimensions, with boots of three Tori shows in Atlanta, including the two most recent (which I'd attended), and her '94 show (which I missed). Nifty!

I'm also pretty sure I haven't gotten around to acknowledging the nifty cards received this week from [livejournal.com profile] aerindipity and [livejournal.com profile] dreamcowgirl, but if I did, acknowledging them again probably doesn't hurt!
