Trivial Pursuits
Dec. 23rd, 2002 03:25 amGeography: We leave for Florida in less than two hours. And I haven't slept. Wasn't tired, and I knew that trying to sleep for two hours would just lead to disaster. So yeah, I'm wide fucking awake.
Entertainment: Watched some more eps of the new Twili ght Zone show tonight. The show is okay at best. But Forest Whitaker really worries me. He looks like he's had a stroke, and he talks like Shatner at half-speed. I remember when he was a damned good actor.
History: On this day a few hundred years ago, the Plymouth settlement first broke ground, happily laying the groundwork for religious intolerance in the New World (cleverly disguised as folks escaping Old World intolerance).
Literature: I also read a bunch of issues of Excalibur, from the Claremont, Lobdell, and Ellis runs. I am now more firmly convinced than ever that Lobdell (along with Nicienza and Mackie) was the worst thing ever to happen to comics, Rob Liefeld and Ron Marz included. The Ellis run is a bit weaker than I expected, but, as with much of his early stuff, is still nifty (not as good as the Druid series he did around this time, or the Ruins pair from a bit later)
Sports and Leisure: I cannot fucking believe that the Jets won! Not that they'll make the playoffs (beating the Packers is a dream), but even being in the race on the final week is amazing. And seeing the Patriots lose is almost as nice as seeing the Dolphins lose.
Science and Nature: Caffeine is good. But my mom informed me tonight that there's yet another study showing that five or more cups of coffee a day can increase the chances of having a heart attack. What does this mean for me? I need to get bigger cups.
Anyway, I really won't have a chance to get online again. I mean it this time. :-) But I wanted to kill a few minutes before waking up
