So, a co-worker informed me on Thursday that Friday was the big Glenn School Clothing sale, which is apparently the biggest children's clothing/toy/whatever sale in the Atlanta area. I figured I'd stop by and take a look to see if there was anything worthwhile for Elayna.

I headed over there at 9:15, thinking it started at 9. Turns out the doors opened at 9:30. There were about 200 people already in line. And every one of them had a fucking laundry basket (and often a spare canvas bag or two). Yep, it's one of those sales. The sorts where people mob to get everything.

Yeah. I've never been that scared in my life. Entire parking lot was filled with minivans. There were six guys there, and only two of us were stag. We were also the only two people without a basket.

It was just eerie.

The sale itself was nice. I snagged a nice hardcover Annie novel (written by the guy who did the book for the musical), a couple of other books, two long-sleeve shirts (one purple, one shades of blue), and (most importantly, in Elayna's eyes), a copy of the Highlights Puzzlemania CD-Rom. Miss Kid was happy. And since most of the psychos were looking for stuff for younger kids, I was relatively unharmed. :-)

Way behind on reading, let alone updating. It's been a busy weekend. Notable highlights:

Westfield order arriving, complete with JLA/Avengers and 1602 (and what's up with all the hatred for the former? I'm quite happy with it so far, on a lot of levels), plus a ton of other stuff.

Dead car battery. While we were at the train station, too.

New issue of Games (subscription a gift from [livejournal.com profile] melvh, for whom I still need to reciprocate), and it contains a nifty puzzle by the always-talented [livejournal.com profile] slipjig, as well as a nice article on IF.

New Bentley Little book, The Policy, moved to the front of my reading pile.

Visit to the Atlanta Zoo with [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, Elayna, [livejournal.com profile] penguinboi, [livejournal.com profile] sibylla, and [livejournal.com profile] ryokan, with much fun, in spite of usury-style pricing there.

Smaller cat attempting to eat pizza, and successfully knocking box off of table. He did splatter one paw with sauce, which he then licked clean.

Legs very tired now. Walking around the zoo all day does that. So does eating copious amounts of pizza.
