Hey, for any of the folks who are ranked hella high ([livejournal.com profile] crystalline, [livejournal.com profile] shawnj, etc?), can one of you possibly kick the ass of Kaginava? I don't normally get too upset about getting attacked overnight -- it's a design flaw in the game itself that punishes folks for daring to be away for any length of time -- but when the same person does it every fucking night, instead of finding new targets, it becomes personal.

Oh, and as always, any of you can help me out by joining my army by clicking here, as well as by visiting [livejournal.com profile] aliza250 post over [livejournal.com profile] here to see other folks who you can help out.

So, the EOL CDs were sent off in mid-Dec, and due from our duplicator by yesterday. Not having them as of this morning, we called the guy, and he said that they were signed for on DECEMBER 29!

(Oh, and we got not one fucking comment from the team that was supposed to beta test them, meaning that they're going to roast over fucking hot coals for each and every bug.)

Yeah, over a week ago. Motherfuckers in the mailroom have let nine huge fucking boxes just sit there. Grrr.

In other news, it's cold here. But not snowing. Which doubleplus sucks. And I've got a 10AM meeting across campus, followed by an 11AM meeting back here (which means I'm either late for one meeting, or I leave the other early).

In good news, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] glenn5, [livejournal.com profile] slipjig, [livejournal.com profile] mister_wolf, and [livejournal.com profile] wolfsamurai. I'm trying to be better about remembering these things.

(okay, I've run out of interesting, or even not-so-interesting, ways to incorporate "slut" into my monthly self-pimpage).

My latest column is up, and it's my Stephen King column. It's also the snarkiest piece I've ever published outside of LJ. May I never wade hip-deep into either snark or the last fifteen years of King's writings again.

The latest issue is, as always, worth a read. Aside from the usual columns, there's a good interview with Warren Ellis by [livejournal.com profile] hangingfire, some nifty reviews (including one by [livejournal.com profile] lizlet), and some good interviews. And that's on top of Jessa's daily blog. Adam says check 'em out.

Wow!

My new computer (at work) arrived today. *happy sigh*. Dual-2GhZ G5, with a 23-Inch Cinema display. It's fucking fast. And beautiful.

Yeah, it's the reason I was offline most of the afternoon. Had to get it set up perfectly. Finished a few minutes before quitting time, too (major delay -- tossing four gigs of MP3s over the network from the old computer -- fortunately, they upgraded the network last night.

Time to go. But now I've got something to look forward to tomorrow when I come into work. :-)

Today's "Yeah, Right" award, normally reserved for the Bush Adminstration, goes to Pete Rose, who is now claiming that he had no idea that his book and four million interviews in which he admits to betting on baseball, including his own team, would possible cause a distraction from the Hall of Fame announcements. Surely, it's a total accident. Pete is shocked and horrified that he might be seen as deliberately and manipulatively overshadowing two men whose fecal matter ranks higher than him on a moral scale. Really.

According to this article, the Bush Twins are upset at the spotlight that gets placed on them, and "they persist in seeing themselves as victims of daddy's job."

Heh. Just wait 'til you see the state of your country fifteen years down the road, kids. Your daddy's gonna have a long legacy of victimizing you.
