Best. Trash day. Evar.
Nov. 30th, 2004 09:30 amThe day after Thanksgiving is a trash holiday. It's one of the few times when trash is outright cancelled, instead of being shifted to another day (most holidays occur on Mondays, bumping the Tuesday trash pickup to Wednesday, but not affecting the Friday pickup). So today, we not only took out more bags than we do at any time but post-$Winterholiday, but we got rid of leftovers which were just starting to break laws of nature, and a week's worth of litterbox buildup. I've never been so happy to take out the trash.
In other news:
shadesong and I realized yesterday that we both forgot that the new Kage Baker Company book, The Life of the World to Come, is now out. We're torn. On the one hand, we need this book, as she's an amazing author and the world she's created is fascinating. OTOH, we're trying to save money, and it's on both of our wishlists (and I know that my mom, at least, hasn't done her holiday shopping). Must resist temptation to buy until January.
Other news: My Mets are looking to hire Pedro. Not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, he's Pedro. OTOH, the Mets have recently achieved a reputation as the place old pitchers go to die. We already have one Glavine. We don't need another one.
Reading the latest Wizard, my hatred of the upcoming Constantine movie (and of the ass-kissing Wizard editorial staff) continues to grow. I don't think I've ever hated a movie this much sight-unseen.
There's a new Me First and the Gimme Gimmes album out! And we have it! And yes, it really was recorded live at a Bar Mitzvah. And they cover Delta Dawn, Heart of Glass, Come Sail Away, Take it on the Run and The Longest Time, amongst others. Yay for NoFX side projects!
Nifty food item in our house: Pumpkin butter. I picked some up at Village Market this weekend. Yum. Pumpkin makes everything good.
Note to all headline writers: It was John. D. Barrymore, not John Barrymore, who died yesterday. If you don't think there's a difference, you've never seen the two of them act.
Meanwhile, more Desperate Housewives controversy. ;-)
Oh, and those Swift Boat Veterans don't give up, either.
