Monday, bloody Monday
Dec. 13th, 2004 09:42 amGah. I hate Mondays. Just on principle.
I'm a bad daddy. After Elayna went to bed last night, I spent over an hour playing the Shrek 2 PS 2 game that her aunt got her. So sue me. It was fun (if pretty easy).
Oh, and that Series of Unfortunate Events Board Game that I mentioned us giving Elayna last week? A blast. I played as Count Olaf and succeeded in killing off the guardian, in spite of the best attempts of the three brats (played ably by
shadesong and Elayna). Yes, the game really does capture the mood of the books. :-)
Other things we did this weekend: Saturday, Elayna decided to throw a temper tantrum that combined the worst aspects of a five-year-old (yelling, screaming, etc), with those of a fifteen-year-old (complaining about being told to change clothes, since we didn't feel that a sleeveless dress was appropriate for under-50-degree weather). This resulted in her missing her Girl Scout Party, and to an otherwise slow day.
Sunday, she was better, so got to go to her friend's bowling party, where she had a blast. Mariah made sure that the cake was non-dairy, which pleased Elayna (and me) to no end (Elayna's used to just saying no to cakes at parties, so she wouldn't have been upset, but it was a nice treat). We also watched Shrek 2 (the movie, not the game), and caught the "Far Far Away Idol" segment, which was cute, if not as good as the original karaoke from the first movie.
Other stuff:
New Two Headed Cat is up! Go read columns by
shadesong,
yuki_onna, and
mightywombat, amongst others!
According to my wish list (admittedly, and untrustworthy source, given my recent Amazon issues), no one has bought me that cheap-ass Far Side.
Tonight, we get a visit from
ocean_song! Yay!
*sigh* I knew my Jets would lose, but I still held out hope after that first half. Ah well. They need to get it together for those final three games. They can't afford an upset loss. And they can damned well beat the Pats if they put their mind to it.
Meanwhile, my Mets are talking about Manny Ramirez. We sure could use another bloated contract!
Holy shit revelation that just hit us yesterday -- this is Elayna's last week of school for the year. Wow.
puppetmaker40 has the best look at the case from last month in which a kid threw a frozen turkey out of a car. I can't think of anything to add.
Finally, I leave you with this image (borrowed from The Great Curve, who borrowed it from Tom Peyer and Elayne Riggs, etc):
