Just finished Alasdair Grey's A History Maker. Quite nifty, and possibly the only book I've read in which the plot and resolution both take place, essentially, in the endnotes for Chapter 5. One of the weirder books I've read in a while (not surprising, given the author). Highly recommended, especially for those people who are fans of Future Scottish Dystopian Lit, a sorely neglected genre.

Am I the only one who remembers this little practical joke played by Lucas and friends?

Plot Matters

Like everyone else at the time, I thought the shot at Devlin and Emmerich was well-deserved.

Who knew that a few short months later, I'd have much fonder memories of the Amercan attempt at Godzilla than of Jar-Jar and Friends?

Louisa Chu's latest entry at her food blog, Movable Feast, is all about ordering off the menu at Krispy Kreme. I shall have to try this.

(Oh, and yes, MF does have an LJ feed at [livejournal.com profile] movable_feast, but it only teases about two sentences, so you don't get the full articles or wonderful pictures).

Just watched tonight's ep.

Holy shit.

This season may be the best run of any non-humor toon ever.

I've mentioned before how much I enjoy The Motley Fool, which, aside from having a nifty url, has tons of really good free content (I don't pay for any of their newsletters, and only use the message boards via the 30-day free trials), and advice on all sorts of good subjects.

Anyone who works a job that provides any sort of 401(K) option owes it to themselves to read this article and this one.

Seriously, with access to plans like that, especially if your employer matches, why the hell isn't everyone taking advantage of them? Short of true out-on-the-street or medical emergencies, there's just no excuse.
