Oscars, other weekend TV
Mar. 6th, 2006 09:03 amSo, I nailed fourteen picks in
clontzman's Oscar pool. Should have been fifteen, as I swore last year that I wasn't going to ignore EW's picks for the Big Eight, but I stupidly picked Matt Dillon for an upset win anyway. No, I don't know why I omitted a vote for Art Direction, but I couldn't tell you how I'd have guessed there for the life of me.
Anyway, only caught parts of the ceremony. Was okay, although the montages were ludicrous (even if they did set up Stewart's line about running out of clips). Personally, I haven't enjoyed the Oscars for years, and just don't care enough to get too excited. That said, I'm happy as hell for Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line was every bit as good as many films that won Best Picture, and she was just amazing in every scene) and Philip Seymour Hoffman, who hopefully can avoid giving us crap like Sweet Home Alabama and Along Came Polly ever again.
Other things watched this weekend:
JLU: Bwahahaha! The "bald" crack, and Flash/Lex's line after going to the bathroom ("because I'm evil!") were just brilliant. This show is going out on a high note.
Boondocks: Damned funny, but not their best episode. Still, some brilliant moments, and it did a nice job of showing how Huey's adjusted to the 'burbs. And I loved his "replacement."
CSI: Comcast has moved Spike to a different channel. Tivo has not caught on to this (in spite of my filling out the form on their website). I am not a happy Tivo camper right now. I'd call them to bitch, but Tivo customer service reps actually explode if you ask them to do something that's not addressed by one of the six things in their customer service manual. So no CSI reruns until someone at TIvo with a brain does something. We did get to watch the new one from Thursday night, though, which was fun, but had way too little Grissom.
Batman: Boomerang has now started to show four or five episodes on Sunday afternoons. Saw some great Catwoman ones, as well as the near-perfect "Mad Love" episode.
Ghost in the Shell: A Saito episode! Holy shit! We get his origin, and we see three others early on in their careers. Yay!
Everybody Hates Chris: Chicken-fried bacon! I want some.
