The First Amendment Project is running a series of auctions to raise money for their wonderful cause.

All of the auctions are out of my price range (and, I suspect, many of yours), but if you've got disposable income (or if you just want to donate to the project, as there are a number of basic donation levels that'll still net you shirts, mugs, etc.), there are some great opportunities. My favorite is Carl Hiaasen's auction: The high bidder's name will appear at least once as a taxidermied rat in my next children's novel which will be published in 2007 or 2008. For the winner, I'll sign a first edition of the published novel, and will arrange for a personal telephone call through Skype

Other authors include Chris Ware, TIm Green, Kevin J. Anderson (who will Kryptonize the winner's name in a DC comic), and Douglas Preston.

The full version of the latest Gap commercial.

On the one hand, I'm not a fan of dead celebrity footage being used for commercials (remember Fred Astaire dancing with a vacuum cleaner?). On the other, Gap did pay a shitload of money to Hepburn's charity. And on the third, Hepburn and AC/DC are two of my favorite things, and I never thought I'd get to see something that combined them.

Thanks to the awesomeness that is [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty, I just won a $25 Visa gift card on Blingo!

Woohoo!

(For the uninitiated: Blingo is a search engine that uses Google results; each time you search, you could win a prize, and if you win, the person who referred you also wins that prize. I've won a bunch of free movie tickets and a couple of gift cards from there. Basically, I won because Blerg searched there and won a prize.)
