1. It's fucking cold outside.

1.5 It's actually colder (for now) in Atlanta, so Elayna knows she'd be suffering either way (probably worse there, as she'd have to wait for the bus), but she still made her desire for a ski mask known this morning on the way to school.

2. Over in KOL, I can now verify that there's no trophy for building all of the assorted Crimbo items. I even built and extra Pet Rock, just in case.

OTOH, the items from the Crimborg rock.

3. In sports, I'd really like the Mets to do something other than trade away Bannister. OTOH, The Sox overpaid for Lugo, and given that deal the Royals gave to Gil Meche, Barry ZIto will probably cost about $65 million a season (he's certainly at least six times as good as Meche). I'd also like to know how the fuck Schuerholz pulled off the Ramirez-for-Soriano deal (which is almost more lopsided than last year's Andy Marte/Edgar Renteria deal).

4. Rebecca Romijn will on Ugly Betty! Yay!

5. There was a bomb threat at the town's high school yesterday. Not a happy event (although it turned out, not surprisingly, to be a prank. A really stupid prank). The high school isn't that close to the middle school, but it's close enough (and close enough to our house) that it's just not something one wants to hear about.

A nicer mix of categories today. See yesterday's post for some still-nice deals on games and links to the previous sales.

DVDS:

Aquamarine is $12.49 (56% off).

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is $14.99 (48% off).

Kitchen stuff:

The Farberware 3 Piece Metal Handle Set (two skillets and a griddle) is going for $12.99, and is covered by the same $5 rebate that other items have had (making it theoretically $7.99).

Factory-Reconditioned Waring JEX328FR Health Juice Extractor is on sale again for $22.99.

The George Foreman G5 Electric Grill (with waffle maker and other nifty features) is $79.99 (47% off)

The Matfer nontstick Baking/Roassting Sheet is down to $10 (52% off).

And the Calphalon Commercial Hard Anodized 12-Quart Stockpot with Lid (aka the Stockpot of Doom) is $39.99 (76% off).

House stuff:

The Hoover U6439-900 Self-Propelled WindTunnel Ultra Upright Vacuum Cleaner is going for $159.99, 57% off the list price and $40-60 off the typical price.

And the American Textile Teflon-Coated Mattress Pad (Queen or California King) is $12.99 (89% off).

Video Games:

Children of Mana for the Nintendo DS is back down to $14.99 (50% off).

For the PS2, Tiger Woods PGA Tour '07 is $19.99 (50% off); ditto the PS2 version of Just Cause.

Books:

Barefoot Contessa at Home (the latest from Ina Garten) is $19.60 (44% off).

Cesar's Way: The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems is $13.72 (45% off). I've heard that this is also good for training Eric Cartman.

I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman by Nora Ephron is also 45% off, at $10.97. I have no idea if she also acknowledges feeling bad about the Bewitched remake.

The Dilbert Day-to-Day 2007 Calendar is $7.19 (40% off)

And finally, in Music:

Back to Mono (1958-1969), the awesome Phil Spector box set, is $12.99 (83% off).

One of the Friday sale items is the Black and Decker Stormstation All-in-one Unit, going for $69.99 (58% off) with free shipping. It's tempting, as it's a combo radio/flashlight/power source. If it had a space heater, I'd probably get one. There are also some good power outage tips in the various reviews.

Firefly will become an online RPG.

I bet the game rocks, but has all sorts of downtime, and gets shifted to different servers constantly over the span of a few months. Then, just as folks are starting to get into it, it'll be cancelled. Only to be released as a standalone game two years later that has all sorts of plot holes and fucks with everything I liked about the original.

No, I'm not bitter. Why?
