At home, as we get Columbus Day off. Kinda weird; at Emory, the fall season was a dead zone for holidays (nothing between July 4 and Thanksgiving), but here, with Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Columbus Day, I've had a day off on each of the last three weeks.

A few links to start the week:

1. Paul Krugman won the Nobel prize for Economics! LIke Patrick Nielsen Hayden, I'd have figured it was for, "his distinguished work in the field of Being Right," but it's actually, "for his analysis of trade patterns and location of economic activity."

2. Sarah Beth Durst presents Tam Lin, with commentary.

3. The AV Club has a great interview with Patton Oswalt about movies and his upcoming film festival.

4. Chinese Democracy will hit on November 23!

5. Burn Notice has been renewed!

6. Marky Mark is not a fan of the "Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals" sketch from SNL. The best part of this article is when they mention that he's promoting Max Payne. Between that and The Happening, it's like The Departed never happened.

7. Mets prospect Eddie Kunz is blogging from the Arizona Fall League.

8. Fincher's Rendezvous With Rama looks like it's not happening.

9. Starcraft 2 will be released as three separate games. Or, more accurately, Starcraft 2 will cost three times as much as a normal game.

10. Finally, what the world needs now is the baconburger fatty melt. My cholesterol shot up just looking at the pictures.

Amazon's Deal of the Day is the Complete Veronica Mars for $61.49 (66% off)! Woohoo (well, except for the fact that we already own all three seasons)!

And the MP3 Deal of the Day is the Lucinda Williams album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road for $1.99!

Both deals expire today. Both are very worth getting if you don't already own them (and have the money to spare).
