What a good trailer.

And what a bad movie it'll be.

Directed by Emmerich, co-written by Emmerich and Harald Kloser. You can practically imagine the Godzillas roller skating already.

I saw the Leprechaun movies in appropriate contexts, and my love of the movies has not translated into a fetish.

Amazon's Deal of the Day is all James Bond! The James Bond Ultimate Collector's Set is down to $89.95 (69% off)! That's all 21 films, plus tons of extras. And the new Blu-Ray six-pack (for those of you lucky enough to have Blu-Ray players or PS3s) is going for $64.95 (64% off). These deals (especially the Blu-Ray one, which was only released a short time ago) will likely sell out sometime today before they expire.

Other Friday-only deals include:

The Wii Frontman Wireless Guitar for $19.96 (60% off).

The DRM-free MP3 album Willy and the Poor Boys (from CCR) for $1.99.

The Friday Five MP3 albums for $5 a pop are from Ne-Yo, Thievery Corporation, Jimmy Buffet, Justice, and Seether.

New deals that don't (as far as I know) expire today:

Marvel Heroscape is $14.99 (55% off); it's a good Heroscape intro, and a cheap holiday gift (which never dropped before $17 last holiday season).

And the combined Heroes Seasons 1 and 2 set is going for $52.99 (47% off).

Fool!

Last week, I got an email informing me that I'd won a copy of Fool! This week, it arrived! I'll have to take a picture of the cover-wrap, as it's very nifty. I also won a hat and a copy of the leather-bound Bible Edition of Lamb.

'song's reading it first, so she can finish before she goes out of town, and I'll start it this weekend. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it. Moore's one of my all-time favorite authors, and seeing him tackle Lear is something I've been looking forward to for a while.

Also, in spite of the what the contest blog post says, I most certainly didn't vote for You Suck as my favorite Christopher Moore novel, as it's maybe my fifth or sixth favorite of his.

Um, no.

I somehow got on a the assorted email lists for BioTechniques magazine (likely because I filled out a survey at a tradeshow).

Since the magazine has nothing to offer me, I went to their site to opt out.

And got this message:

Thank you!

Your request has been received.

Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to be removed from our lists.

Excuse me? 4-6 weeks to opt out of email lists?

That's be a "no." A "hell, no," in fact. It's bad enough that most lists take 24-48 hours for an opt-out to kick in.

One day, then anything I receive from them gets marked spam.
