We're in a "nomadic" period at work, meaning that our offices are unusable because of the half-assed job done by the folks who renovated them three years ago, necessitating all sorts of repairs. That means we pretty much just take our laptops and set up shop wherever.

Today, I decided that "wherever" would be the student center, and after grabbing a cup of coffee, I attempted to head upstairs. After realizing that the elevator was out of order, I went to the stairs and promptly tripped, falling onto the mid-stair landing and smashing my left ring finger against the stairs.

Guess who's now got a splint on his finger? Fortunately, a co-worker was able to give me a ride to the Dr., so I could at least avoid a two-hour commute just to get an X-ray. I'm home now, but will be back in my non-office tomorrow.

Annoyingly, the splint makes typing a royal pain. I wish I were more of a hunt-and-peck typist. Or that I could avoid words that require "a," "s," anything else in those columns, or the left shift key.

Oh, and as the subject line says, I managed to not spill the coffee. I mean, I've got ten fingers, but I only had that one cup. One has to prioritize.

ETA: I did manage to get my wedding ring off using soapy water before the finger got too swollen. So no circulation issues, at least.

Nooo!

Party Down and Gravity have both been cancelled.

Gravity was insanely flawed, but ended on a huge cliffhanger, and I like closure. Also, Krysten Ritter was so damned good on it (and Ivan Sergei was also a blast). Ving Rhames, on the other hand, was completely wasted on the show.

Party Down was simply hysterical, and deserved better. Not that Rob Thomas ever really catches a break (other than getting ABC to try Cupid again, which turned out to be an awful idea).

On the plus side, Starz now goes back to being a network with nothing to offer other than Torchwood reruns that most fans will just download when the episodes air in the UK. So no reason to have them programmed into your Tivo favorites.

By all indications, there's not much to the story here, as it's basically like the Zappo's deal, and Woot will remain autonomous. That said, the memo from the Woot CEO is one of the funniest things I've read recently.

Elayna: I miss you guys.

Me: We miss you too.

Elayna: And I miss Matt Smith.

Have I mentioned that she left for Israel after "The Pandorica Opens," and still hasn't seen "The Big Bang?" I think that if she could have postponed her trip by a week, she would have. :-)
