Before I get to other deals, Amazon is running Black Friday Lightning Deals all week. As with the deals last year, the deals run for about three hours or until they sell out. Deals today include Up in the Air, The Men Who Stare at Goats (both active now), the book How to Cook Everything (at 11AM EST), Twilight and New Moon on DVD, and Jakob Dylan's solo album (both at 11:30AM EST). Deals later in the day include Civilization 5, Alpha Protocol, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, Gossip Girl, Live Free or Die Hard, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Studio 60, and every season of Friends

Blu-Ray deals include The Dirty Harry Collection for $28.99 (55% off), Dollhouse Season 1 for $13.99 (80% off), Showgirls (15th Anniversary Sinsantional Edition) for $7.99 (73% off), Predator (Ultimate Hunter Edition) for $7.99 (73% off), The Departed for $7.99 (68% off), Wanted for $7.99 (73% off), Time Bandits for $5.99 (67% off), Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths for $9.99 (67% off), the first, second, and third Lord of the Rings movies for $7.99 (68% off) each, and the Alien Anthology set for $69.99 (50% off).

Some nifty regular DVD deals include North and South: The Complete Collection for $17.99 (74% off), Roots for $17.99 (70% off), Tim Burton's Corpse Bride for $5.99 (54% off), Season 1 of Glee for $19.99 (67% off), and The Blind Side for $3.99 (a whopping 80% off!).

Note that most of those deals will also nab you the free $4 of video-on-demand credit (if you haven't gotten it already).

In video games, buy 1 DS/PSP game, get another for half off (from a limited, but solid, selection). This one is today-only.

The PC download of World of Goo is only $5 (75% off).

The KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer is on sale for $299.99, a whopping 40% off. There's also an additional $50 mail-in rebate.

In MP3, the latest albums from Kanye, My Chemical Romance, Ne-Yo, Robyn and Dane Cook are $3.99 a pop.

Oh, and finally, here's a straight-up free $3 to spend on any MP3s at Amazon! The code has to be used by next Monday, and it effectively makes any of those albums above $.99.

Today's Teefury shirt is awesome (I was one of the many who saw it as side art and wanted to see it as a regular shirt).

And if you're a Serenity fan, you should see the side art for Serenity Sake on that page, which would also make an awesome shirt.

After getting a totally unearned Gold Glove, I figured Pujols would also swipe himself an MVP, but instead, Joey Votto won by a huge margin. Much as I hate the Reds -- and will continue to do so until that thug Johnny Cueto is out of the sport -- Votto was clearly the deserving player here.

His thoughts on hearing of the remake of Buffy.

My favorite bit: This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can't think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.
