But when I read of companies like Lions Gate deliberately abusing the DMCA and filing false copyright claims in situations like this (and taking advantage of their huge resource advantage over smaller content creators), it's hard not to want to see every bloody property they own thrown all over the torrents.

Both are deceitful, and both are instances of big corporations throwing their weight around; don't think for a second this would be happening if the victims were other big corporations (see the cited example of The Daily Show in the first article).
