I somehow missed the news that the new version of American Gladiators was cancelled last month. I know it was likely inevitable -- the ratings were off during season 2, and NBC pretty much buried it, both on the schedule and in terms of how it was aired (forcing them to skip events and air them on the web only). Still it was a ridiculously fun show, with some great personalities and some incredible fits of athleticism. Ninja Warrior is nice, but it's not the same thing.

Ninja Warrior RULES because everyone from the announcers on down take it so damn seriously. It has caused great strife in my household because if it's on, my daughter and I stop all chores and just sit there mesmerized. Drives my wife nuts.

Huh... that sucks, especially with the folks they added on Season 2.

I mean, they really went out of their way for awesomeness on Season 2.
Xin, Breaux, Winderstrom.

Someone needs to sign Steel vs. Siren now though!

It was a shame Xin didn't seem to make many fans, from what I saw. Kind of cool to take a different approach with a bit of a faster, more agile gladiator (well, along with the season 1 winner). Shame Vertigo wasn't used more, and they seem like they'd be well suited to the uk Pursuit event.
