Minor linkdump
Apr. 28th, 2009 09:23 amOff to a string of meetings, so a quick linkdump before I go:
1. Well-known liberal mouthpiece National Review's take on Atlas Shrugged (reprint from 1957).
2. Barry Zito plays with his food.
3. The Locus Award Finalists have been announced! Two books I love -- Daryl Gregory's amazing metafictional demonic possession novel Pandemonium and Paul Melko's superb sci-fi future tale Singularity's Ring -- are up for Best First Novel; I'd be happy with a win for either one (although I'd lean towards Gregory, as his novel just blew me away). Lots of other good stuff in the other categories, but few surprises for me.
4. Classic Rock Album Cover or Book Cover?\
5. Finally, although it might only interest me, there's a remake of Klonoa for the Wii! Yay! Klonoa is one of three PS1 games I still own (FFT and Discworld being the others).

Date: 2009-04-28 06:19 pm (UTC)I have quite a few of his earlier works, as well as his collaborations with Gingrich, so I know he can be pretty good stand-alone.
This one looks like it might be interesting. It put me in mind of Lucifer's Hammer by Niven and Pournelle (though the circumstances are very different), which I found to be an excellent post-apocalyptic. I see they also compared it to "On The Beach" which I just saw on TCM recently.
Unfortunately, my To-Read stack is way off the chart already, so I just added it to my Wish List to remind me later.
