I come back from a day at Readercon to find that we traded Church for Francouer?

Off to Readercon again in twenty minutes. Maybe I'll come back to find that we've traded Santana to the Phillies for a cotton candy machine.

My Atlanta-fan friends are having pretty much the same response of disbelief. According to the parenting and management anecdotes I have been taught, this indicates an even swap. :)

would you be interested in trading Mike Fontenot for Jose Reyes? Fontenot has potential and such!

but seriously, not to dismiss Church but glancing at his stats he looks middling this year (yes i know he had a good season two years ago and then broke his....face? last year to end the season, but this year seems semi-meh. and ill grant you that with all the major guys on the DL, his numbers might suffer a bit) but was Church really that much better than Francouer? Just asking, as I don't get many Mets games in Chicago.

Church is a better defender, and strikes out a lot less. He does get hurt a lot, which is a concern, but before Escobar whacked him in the head last year, he was an all-star.

That said, in the two days Frenchy's been on the Mets, he's been solid.
