Some day, I want to edit the Mastadon Book of Noseblowing Science Fiction Stories.

(Background: Try here. Or here. Or here.

Or just know this: An anthology of "Mindblowing" science fiction stories somehow -- purely by coincidence of course -- only includes men (and white ones, at that). Said anthology even claims to have "The 21 finest stories of awesome science fiction," even though a few names from the white male section, like Heinlein, Asimov, Dick, and Zelazny, are missing (let alone folks like Tiptree, Butler, Kress, etc).

Naturally, folks expressed some discontent over this. And, just to keep things interesting, Paul Di Filippo waded into the first thread and provided some of the best analogies I've ever seen. From now on, I'll always look at women and people of color and think of them as the lettuce to my copy paper.)

I was filling lynx in on the background here, and realized that he's actually, literally arguing apples and oranges! I'm not sure it's ever happened before!

don't you get tired of following along to whatever the latest wankfest about how the evil white man is keeping the variously gendered poccies down?

there mighta been a point in there 6-7 thousand words ago but it's just gotten to the point of whiny aggrievement

And the best way to accomplish you goals is joining on a round robin of self-indulgent whining? I am still pissed at the savaging some of these twits have inflicted on people who didn't deserve it.

How about starting at home instead?

This is you last post pimping for amazon (http://yendi.livejournal.com/1819047.html), none feature central (or really any) characters which are non-white, hell only a couple even have strong female characters. Looking back further I notice you don't seem to make any effort to review or recommend items that do feature anything beyond white guys.

Really? Who the fuck didn't deserve it?
paul di filippio, will shetterly, most of the other people who've tried to talk to the mau-mauing self-absorbed victimists of the racewank threads

My Amazon links highlight deals on DVDs, and are just that; deals.
They're not the only deal amazon offers, you specifically chose to emphasize them. Much like an editor chooses which stories to include in an anthology.

Poccies? Seriously? That doesn't sound derogatory to you?

For serious. It's just - I am accustomed to racists trying to hide their racism, y'know? My jaw literally dropped when I read his comment.

I really don't know why Adam hasn't banned this scumbag yet. This is not the first messed-up comment from him.

heh. I read that first line just as I'm listening to a Big Finish Doctor Who audio adventure where Ace and Hex are running from a snot monster that keeps explosively blowing its nose at them.

I just realized I can no longer say "Samuel Delany" without saying it in an Animaniacs theme sing-song voice.

I used my babysitting monies to by anthologies when I was a teen, because you got more book that way.
Someone I always missed in those anthologies was Marion Zimmer Bradley.
