Some day, I want to edit the Mastadon Book of Noseblowing Science Fiction Stories.

Or just know this: An anthology of "Mindblowing" science fiction stories somehow -- purely by coincidence of course -- only includes men (and white ones, at that). Said anthology even claims to have "The 21 finest stories of awesome science fiction," even though a few names from the white male section, like Heinlein, Asimov, Dick, and Zelazny, are missing (let alone folks like Tiptree, Butler, Kress, etc).

Naturally, folks expressed some discontent over this. And, just to keep things interesting, Paul Di Filippo waded into the first thread and provided some of the best analogies I've ever seen. From now on, I'll always look at women and people of color and think of them as the lettuce to my copy paper.)

Looking back further I notice you don't seem to make any effort to review or recommend items that do feature anything beyond white guys.

That said, you're inadvertently right: I've sucked at talking about books and writing completely this year. I haven't made a decent effort to review or recommend anything. There are some legit reasons (working for PW means I can't really talk about books I'm reading for them), but it's also a case of blog inertia. That said, the last post where I actually talked about writers was this one, which points to three of them, two of whom are female, one of whom is a PoC, and one of whom is a white male writing about a female lead (and doing it pretty damned well, imho).

And incidentally? My not talking about books for way too long doesn't excuse bad editing or assholes being assholes.

If you can read this thread, and view Di Filippo - who enters a civil thread with ALL CAPS, borderline racist comparisons of black people to lettuce, and some awful analogies, then you completely fucking fail at reading comprehension. Ditto for Shetterly's nutbag ravings, which were so filled with privileged blindness that they were pretty much disavowed by everyone with an IQ over 90 on both sides of Racefail.

And if you really think that calling the folks "self-absorbed victimists" shows any insight (or even knowledge of the English language), you clearly didn't read what happened. You sure as hell don't show any ability to comprehend or analyze information.

I've given up on trying to educate your sorry self. You can take your racist concern trolling elsewhere (might I suggest Free Republic?).

I used my babysitting monies to by anthologies when I was a teen, because you got more book that way.
Someone I always missed in those anthologies was Marion Zimmer Bradley.
