PotC meets Tim Powers?

The next Pirates of the Caribbean movie is called On Stranger Tides. And Powers's publicist refused comment and referred them back to Disney. Which doesn't seem like the sort of thing he'd have done if, you know, they hadn't sold any rights to them.

I'm still hoping to see a cut of PotC 3 that makes sense. I'm sure it could be done...

That said, PotC 1 is the only one I've actually bought, or watched more than twice.

I enjoyed many aspects of the second and third movies. I just wish they'd been in other, better movies.

My favourite scene in three was the crabs. But that's one of those bits that seems like it would be better in another movie.

I read months ago that Powers had sold the rights to On Stranger Tides to Disney: seems it was true. Whether they'll use more than the title remains to be seen.

I don't expect anything on the level of the book, but if they manage to convey at least a chunk of the Powers writing or plot, I'll be happy. If it's just the title, that'd seem like a waste.
