Every time a morning #70 bus runs an entire route on time, the US pulls out of a war in Afghanistan.

Hmmmm well it's the 70. A sorry route that runs past my door every day.... so I have to agree, it doesn't ever run on time.

Oh and its probably running badly because of what also is going on within 75 feet of my house... sewer repairs that have the street down to the width of the bicycle lane presently for traffic heading west (we're one way at this end of Western Ave). These have been going on off and on for 2 months now... about 8-10 hours a day Mon-Fri (and some Sat.).

[livejournal.com profile] dsrtao commutes on the #70a every day, and that's even worse because it a) runs on a less frequent schedule and b) changes route depending on the time of day. Way too often I have seen it in a area where it's not supposed to be at that time (usually following the AM path in the afternoon or the PM path in the morning). Sometimes it just doesn't show up at all, and he has to wait an extra half hour for the next one.

Fortunately, that DOESN'T imply "in order for the United States to pull out of a war in Afghanistan, the 70 bus has to run on time." 'Cause we would be well and truly screwed, then.

Come to think of it -- I CAN remember one time the 70 bus ran on time. I was in high school, so it was the late 80's.

Right around the time that we stopped funding the muhadajin, I think.

technically, it was the Soviets who pulled out of the war then, but you seen one aspirant to world empire, you seen 'em all

Yeah, but we were funding them as part of a proxy war. Even if we didn't have any troops over there -- just "military advisors*coughcough*" -- I think it still counts.
