Noted con artist Oral Roberts has "been called home."

I'm not, incidentally, a believer in the idea that if you can't say something nice about someone, to not say anything at all. Or that one shouldn't speak ill of the dead. Bad people, once dead, don't magically become good.

Oral Roberts's famous claim that YaHuWaHu had taken a contract out on him unless he made his payments always struck me as the turning point in televangelism. Before then, people like Falwell or even Jim Bakker (who was outed as a philanderer/rapist later, IIRC) could somehow claim to be talking as preachers.

After Roberts, they were obviously con-men to anyone with sufficient brain cells still firing.
