The Silver Lining
Apr. 25th, 2014 01:37 pmSo after the aforementioned crash, I had only had time to restore my Amazon purchases to the iPod. And Amazon, for all its other issues, has decided to do an awesome thing, and add MP3s of every album I'd bought from them to my music library. That includes albums that, for example, I might have lost and not ripped.
Like Jonatha Brooke's 10 Cent Wings. Which is quite simply one of my favorite albums of all time.
I'd ordered in in 1998 (yes, sixteen years ago), and don't think I'd had a chance to listen to it in over a decade.
And oh, how amazing some of this stuff is. The title track. "Blood From a Stone." "Glass Half Empty." This is one of those albums where, if you ask me what the best song is, my answer's probably the last one I listened to.
Until Dollhouse came along and she created the opening song, I'd actually assumed I was the only Brooke fan on the planet. And there's just something wonderful about rediscovering an artist and album after all these years.
