Daria: The Complete Animated Series is actually going to be a reality!

Have I mentioned how much I love this show? Daria, The Tick, and Freakazoid were the three shows I utterly obsessed over in the '90s (to take nothing away from Batman and its assorted spin-offs). Now all three are finally on DVD (although the sets of The Tick are too dreadful to justify buying). Took long enough. And yeah, I expect there to be major music edits, but as long as I can have the show itself, I'll be happy.

Now if someone would only get working on The Zeta Project. And a good transfer of The Tick. . .

True, when I heard the rumours about it last year I didn't dare to hope. Now I can! I mean worst case senario, I import it.

The gossip I'd heard was that the music edits would be covers and close-as-possible needledrops, rather than the slapdash generic stuff they threw in for the UK terrestrial release. (Which I pretty much refused to watch while Paramount Comedy ran the originals, so I don't know how generic that got, but my friends always told me it was horrific.)

What went wrong with the Tick sets? I knew Edlund had withheld an episode he felt sucked on toast, but that's all.

Yeah, I'd heard that they're going to do their best with the music, too. As long as they get the stuff from Splendora, I'm fine.

The Tick sets, aside from missing episodes, also have VHS-quality transfers. And no commentaries/special features.

Ugh. A lack of special features is no dealbreaker for me, but a bad transfer frequently is. That's unfortunate.

(What constitutes VHS-quality here, out of curiosity? Like unto the Defenders of the Earth sets, or like unto that unMSTed Manos disc?)
