So, aside from an awful, awful spin-off, Criminal Minds has now cut A.J. Cook (J.J.), and is reducing Paget Brewster's (Prentiss) episode commitment. I love Garcia, but I also kinda like the rest of the team.

I'll still watch next season, but I won't be expecting nearly that much out of the show.

So let me get this straight...coke-head and wife-beater Charlie Sheen gets close to 2 mil per half hour episode for a sex-and-fart-jokes "male-centered" sitcom while the women get cut from Criminal Minds and even the men have to fight to break 100K/ep on NCIS.

Yeah, I think more people than Sheen are doing coke at CBS.

I was, for a time, a pretty hard-core follower of NCIS, but the show has taken a serious downturn over the past two seasons. It has gone from a good, somewhat light-hearted procedural 'solve the dead body of the week' to a crazy-assed attempt at espionage/conspiracy pseudo-romantic drama with plot holes big and black enough to support astro-physics research. Now I mostly watch for the Mark Harmon / Michael Weatherly eye candy and catch Burn Notice for my banter fix.

Maybe they're just trying to reflect the fact that the FBI doesn't allow agents to remain with the profiler team for more than a couple years at most...

By cutting the women only? Who have less time on the team than most of the male characters? I doubt it.

This is such bullshit, and if it is for financial reasons, then get rid of the execrable spin off and use that to keep some of the only strong female characters on TV. If they need to get rid of someone, they can toss Shemar Moore. He has, like, no real character storyline beyond being a big macho meathead.

Oh, I like his character, though I liked him much better in the first, say, three seasons. It just seems like the last couple years, he's had no character growth. I wish they'd write him a few good storylines. They could get rid of Rossi, though, that'd be fine. Sometimes I like Rossi, but sometimes he gets this smug on that just irritates me.

Frankly, I think the financial excuse is bullshit. They're just doing the same thing they did to CSI when they got rid of Liz Vassey, which is royally fucking up like a bunch of assfaces.

What horrible news to read. ARG. I love CM, and I do adore Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler and Kristen Vangsness, so I'll keep watching, but I *also* love Paget Brewster, so to lose her is a huge mistake. And while I don't necessarily adore AJ Cook, I do quite like her, and the humanity she brings to the team. And all of that is, of course, completely separate from cutting *women* from an already *male*-centered team/show. GRRR!!! Not. Happy.

At least I'll have my DVDs of earlier seasons... Grrr.
