The fact that Gregory Kane has been nominated for a Pulitzer diminishes the prizes.

ETA: Should have clarified: He wasn't just nominated for a Pulitzer, that happened a while ago. But he once again showed himself to be an ass. The latest incident it what I'm noting.

I've generally been in favor of letting people call themselves whatever they want unless there are some specific particular reasons not to.

So, on the one hand, what a dick.

On the other hand, I'm not sure if the Pulitzer can get any further diminished than it has been for some time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Duranty).

I recently read "Lonesome Dove", which apparently won a Pulitzer, and I've gotta say- even the worst-written urban fantasy or romance crap that i read these days is better written than that. He couldn't even keep track of his characters' names and families, let alone do other stuff that shows competence.

NOT impressed by Pulitzers.
