Sep. 2nd, 2011 09:03 amI really need to get better at closing tabs; at this point, I just need to acknowledge that no browser can handle my need to have over a hundred open tabs. Of course, some are just open because I'd forgotten to close them, but no longer needed or even remembered why they were open (the Wikipedia page on Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation, for example).
1. A professor decided to retire after being unable to find a parking spot. Having seen the parking situations at more than a few universities, I'm only shocked this hasn't happened more often.
2. Dancing With the Stars through the ages. Of course, I've actually heard of most of the people used in this article, unlike the majority of folks on the show.
3. Superman has problems with Google+. Most of us do, of course, but his are special.
4. Forbes breaks down exactly how crafty Gawker and Alyssa Bereznak were being when they trolled for geeks. And yeah, I accidentally gave Gawker a pageview they didn't deserve. There's a reason I keep hoping they'll spin off io9 and Jezebel (and maybe Deadspin) so I can actually enjoy those sites again.
5. Your Critic is in Another Castle (have I linked there before? It's a great video game criticism blog) talks about sex in video games.
6. Flying While Black & Reading Antique Aviation Books? Don't fly United. (Follow-up here.)
7. Here's a really good interview with Allison Scagliotti about Warehouse 13. There are some spoilers for this season (mostly of stuff that's already aired).
8. How much it will cost you to get all of the hot games this holiday season.
9. For folks curious about Scrivener, Justine Larbalstier describes how she wrote Liar using that program.
10. Finally, in case you've heard the old saw about running and walking burning the same amount of calories per mile, turns out it's not even close (although race walking, in turn, actually burns more than running).

Date: 2011-09-02 10:18 pm (UTC)That said, it's really an enjoyable guilty pleasure; think of the old Friday the 13th series with a goofy spy show mixed in. Plus regular guest spots for CCH Pounder.
