Some mild "Glee" Glee
Sep. 16th, 2011 03:00 pmSo, the songs from Glee's first episode are out there, and there's some good stuff.
I'm unapologetic about the fact that "You Can't Stop the Beat" is my favorite song from "Hairspray," (I can and often do like cheese; deal with it) and the cover that the show just released makes me pretty happy (even if Rachel, shockingly, gets too much spotlight time).
And mashing up Cole Porter and Irving Berlin is the kind of mashup genius that worked so well with "It's My Life/Confessions" and that they kept failing to replicate for a season and a half of failed mashups since.
My only mild disappointment is that Tom Jones really needs to be covered by someone with a more powerful voice; either Kevin McHale or Amber Riley would have been a better choices.

As mentioned in the comments, it also does sound like Lindsay Pierce on Anything Goes.
I also swear I heard Alex Newell's voice.
I don't think I heard Sam though.
I believe Ryan definitely went all out though I think to put a spotlight on his four new stars from Glee Project.
