Over on Young Justice, we get the Injustice League with a whole bunch of my favorite villains making their debuts (as well as Atomic Skull, because, um, maybe the writer lost a bet?).

And the Justice League showed off Zatara, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Red Arrow, The Human Bomb, and more (along with the A-listers).

And "Plan B." Wow. Not to mention the final twist.

Plus, such good dialogue, from hero and villain alike:

"I've had practice. . . juggling my multiple personalities."

"I feel naked. Not in a fun way."

"I hate monkeys."

And just the little bits. The return of "Hello, Megan;" Artemis knocking out Count Vertigo and then putting Kid Flash's arm in a sling; Artemis and Aqualad both reaching for the weapons on their backs, only to find them gone.

Oh, and Brent Spiner's Joker. Holy crap. The first animated Joker to come across as genuinely psychopathic and dangerous (nothing against Hamill's, of course, which is trying to be something else entirely).

Meanwhile, on Batman: Brave and the Bold, we got everything that's great about the Green Arrow/Batman rivalry, Aquaman at his boisterous best, and Plastic Man saving his life with his butt.

Basically, both shows played to their strengths.

That was Spiner playing the Joker? Sweet. I missed that.

I absolutely love B&tB's Aquaman... So much fun.

Plus did you catch the brief cameos by Rocket & Icon? Though I wish I could have managed to i.d. all the Society of Shadows guys. I mean was one of them Queen of Fables?

It's quite clear to me that the various animated DC series (with a few exceptions) are capable of constructing entertaining, funny, continuity-aware stories without alienating huge swaths of potential new fans. I wonder why the dead-tree comic division can't see these successes and do this too?

I am beginning to realize my question may have been snidely rhetorical. :)
