A Devo-related admission

I've generally not been a fan of contemporary artist reinterpretations of their own work, and have criticized everything from "Don't Stand So Close to Me '86" to the revised Star Wars movies.

Having said that, I prefer the re-recorded version of "Girl U Want" (from the Tank Girl soundtrack) over the original (from Freedom of Choice).

Also, the Tank Girl movie doesn't deserve 1/100th of the bile directed its way.

I like the film, too. We have one of that film's big defenders here in Portland, Shawn Levy (on Twitter!). He also had the taste later to hire Mike Russell to review films back in 2004.

I don't _love_ the film, but I am fond of it. There's bits of it that are great, and bits that don't quite work. But I'm happy to have seen it.

*nod* It's got flaws aplenty, but people (especially folks who insist on a perfect adaptation, as if it would translate easily) treat it like it's Batman and Robin.

I liked Tank Girl. Though I was one of the few in my circle of friends.
